Cragganmore Whisky
Cragganmore Speyside Whisky Cragganmore-destilleriet blev grundlagt i 1869 af John Smith i Ballindalloch. I 1923 blev destilleriet opkøbt af White Horse, og i 1972 blev destilleriet yderligere omformet til dampopvarmning. Destilleriet er et af Speysides mindste. Cragganmore-whiskyernes kompleksitet skyldes inddragelsen af hårdt vand i fremstillingsprocessen. Endvidere arbejder man med små anderledes formede kedler som er smalhalsede; har en flad top og et lynerør der stikker ud fra siden Founded: Status: Capacity: 1869 Active (vc) 2 000 000 litres Address: Ballindalloch, Moray AB37 9AB Tel: website: 01479 874700 www.malts.com History: 1869 – John Smith, who already runs Ballindalloch and Glenfarclas Distilleries, founds Cragganmore. 1886 – John Smith dies and his brother George takes over operations. 1893 – John’s son Gordon, at 21, is old enough to assume responsibility for operations. 1901 – The distillery is refurbished and modernized with help of the famous architect Charles Doig. 1912 – Gordon Smith dies and his widow Mary Jane supervises operations. 1917 – The distillery closes. 1918 – The distillery reopens and Mary Jane installs electric lighting. 1923 – The distillery is sold to the newly formed Cragganmore Distillery Co. where Mackie & Co. and Sir George Macpherson-Grant of Ballindalloch Estate share ownership. 1927 – White Horse Distillers is bought by DCL which thus obtains 50% of Cragganmore. 1964 – The number of stills is increased from two to four. 1965 – DCL buys the remainder of Cragganmore. 1988 – Cragganmore 12 years becomes one of six selected for United Distillers´ Classic Malts. 1998 – Cragganmore Distillers Edition Double Matured (port) is launched for the first time. 2002 – A visitor centre opens in May. 2006 – A 17 year old from 1988 is released. 2010 – Manager´s Choice single cask 1997 and a limited 21 year old are released.
