Da John Morrison i 1892 købte Knock Estate fra Duke of Fife, ønskede han, at investeringen skulle blive rentabel. Og beliggende i Skotlands fineste kornregion, Moray, med frisk rindende rent vand på grunden, var whiskyproduktion et klogt valg. Produktionen startede i oktober 1894 - og Knockdhu, som det hed dengang, var født.

The second collboration between New York based designer Peter Arkle and An Cnoc whisky. This design shows the rows of dusty casks that Peter fell in love with in the warehouses. Matured in American and Spanish oak casks, and refreshingly light in taste.

A dark warehouse containing hundreds of casks of anCnoc sitting there quietly ageing is a very special thing to be allowed to see. It's like sneaking a glimpse into a holy place (a spiritual place!). Nothing seems to be happening but there's an incredible sense of time passing. Magic is happening––slowly and quietly.

This Limited Edition is matured in American and Spanish oak barrels resulting in a refreshingly light dram

Official Tasting Notes
Colour: Light amber.
Nose: Sweet and full-bodied bursting with spicy vanilla and rich toffee aromas followed by fresh lemons, cooked green apples and a hint of coconut.
Palate: Sweet, warm and spicy. Dried fruit cake, creamy vanilla and toffee are followed by a note of zesty orange peel and enveloped in leathery richness.

The New York-based illustrator comments:
‘Working with anCnoc as a collaborative partner on its limited edition campaign has been an incredible thrill, and I am delighted with this new release. My illustration aims to capture the essence of what makes the whisky so special – time, as the sense of time passing was almost tangible inside the warehouse. I hope that drinkers get as much enjoyment from my design as they do from the magic inside the bottle!”

This dramatic design proves striking against the golden liquid inside – a new expression which has been hand selected by Knockdhu Distillery Manager Gordon Bruce.

Matured in American and Spanish oak sherry barrels, it is a refreshingly light dram, which is reflected in its soft colour and amber highlights. Spicy vanilla and rich coffee aromas are followed by fresh lemons, cooked green apples and just a hint a coconut, allowing for a sweet, warm and spicy taste.

Peter’s unique design gives our drinkers a sneak peek into our warehouse, while the whisky inside makes for a delicious dram – an ideal choice to add to any whisky lover’s collection.”

Peter Arkle Project Background

Peter Arkle is a reknowned Scottish illustrator based in New York who has worked with some of the worlds biggest brands (Guinness, Nike, and Starbucks are just a few!) He has developed an exclusive range of limited edition designs for anCnoc, of which this is the first, which will be launched throughout 2012 and will be available in the UK, USA, Sweden and selected European markets. While sipping his anCnoc, Peter found himself considering the ingredients: Yes, it’s made from malted barley, spring water (from the nearby Knock Hill), yeast, heat and the passing of a lot of time (ageing in a cask).

The liquid inside is also very special. Selected by the Distillery Manager, Gordon Bruce, this Limited Edition is matured in Spanish oak sherry butts. Traditionally anCnoc is matured in American wood. This gives the whisky a darker colour and notes of dark spices and dried fruits.
