Isle of Jura 1984
70cl / 40%
Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Rare and richly aromatic with hints of mulled wine, ginger and banana cake.
Thirty years in the making, this exquisite limited edition single malt is all about taking things slow, aged in American white oak, Amoroso and Apostoles Oloroso sherry butts casks. Some say patience is rewarded hints of honey and vanilla, while others enjoy ripe pineapple, bitter chocolate and morello cherries – after all, who says there’s only one version of the truth?
In 1984, Jura casked a small quantity of unambiguously excellent single malt whisky. Rare and richly aromatic, the Jura 1984 Vintage reveals an intense and uncensored taste that’s spent the past thirty years biding its time in American white oak, Amoroso and Apostoles Olorso sherry butt casks. Some say a deep breath in reaps rewards in hints of honey, vanilla and peach syrup, while other drinkers find truth in ripe pineapple developing into hidden notes of bitter chocolate and morello cherries.
This limited edition whisky honours the island’s connection to writer George Orwell, who penned dystopian classic Nineteen Eighty-Four right here on our shores. And with only 1,984 individually numbered bottles available, its intense flavour makes for a privilege only to be enjoyed by a select and thoughtful few.
